We understand and appreciate that wedding dress shopping can be an overwhelming and, potentially, scary prospect. Rest assured that, here at The Bottom Drawer, we ensure your appointment experience is calm, relaxed, friendly and most importantly fun! We are on hand throughout to make sure there are smiles all round and of course some happy tears.
At The Bottom Drawer Bridal, we operate by appointment, this is to ensure that each and every bride who visits the boutique receives the ultimate, most luxurious experience that they deserve, without being interrupted. You are always more than welcome to pop by and if we are available to offer an appointment we are more than happy to, but you may want to ring ahead, we would hate for you to be disappointed if we already have an appointment in progress.
We ask that all brides come to their appointment on time, unfortunately we do not have a waiting area and we like each bride to receive a completely private and personal experience, so if you do arrive a little early, Saturday Market Place and The Quayside have an array of bars, cafes and restaurants for you to wait and relax in prior to your appointment.
When should I start looking for my dress?
This depends on the bride! Some brides wish to visit several times before they order their gown whilst others will do so on their first visit. Most of our dresses take between 10 – 16 weeks to arrive at the boutique. Some take a little longer, so we would normally advise leaving 6 months to ensure your dress arrives on time and a further 8 weeks for alterations. Rush orders can be arranged, but these come with an additional charge, depending on the designer. However, if you do not have this length of time please still contact us as we maybe able to obtain your gown within a short time period.
What size are your samples?
A sample dress will never fit you perfectly but please don’t worry, all of our dresses can be ordered in many sizes. Our samples range from a size 8 – 16 and while we only have each dress in one size it maybe possible for us to order a sample closer to your size from the designer (separate cost incurred). With some artful clipping, a size 12 can put on a size 16 and still see the overall look.
Do you have dresses that can be taken away the same day?
Yes. At least once a year we have to make way for new collections arriving from our designer’s as well as the odd discontinued dress. This means we will have beautiful designer wedding dresses available in our sample sale with up to 70% off! which can mean some gowns start from only £400. Please get in touch for information on our current sample sale dresses available.
Can you loan Samples from the Designers?
If you have seen a dress on one of the designers websites that you would like to try that I do not have it in the boutique, it is possible to loan dresses in for you. I will contact the designer on your behalf to find out the availability of the sample dress and arrange a convenient appointment with you to try it on. For some of the designers this is free of charge and for others there may be a small delivery charge (which will be refundable if you decide to purchase the dress).
What should I wear?
Please wear nude underwear (if possible, what you will be wearing on the day!) and again preferably the shoes you are planning to wear, if not bring shoes which are similar in height to what you will be wearing on your wedding day.
Can I bring the girls?
As there is limited space in our little boutique, we ask that you keep the party to a maximum of 6 people.
What is the price range of your gowns?
Typically our gowns range from £1000 to £3000 therefore ensuring a wide range for everyone to find their dream dress.
Do you charge for appointments?
We do not charge but for our Saturday and out of hours appointments (Sunday's & Monday Evening's) we do require a £20 refundable deposit due to high demand. This is fully refundable upon your arrival to your appointment with no purchase necessary. If you would like to cancel your appointment we require at least 48 hours notice for your deposit to be refunded.

Do you price match?
Our gowns are all sold at the designers' Recommended Retail Price (RRP) - but in the unlikely event that you find any dress that we stock sold locally for less then we will be happy to match the price, (excluding sample sale/off the peg gowns).
How do I pay?
If you find 'The One' at The Bottom Drawer, (and we certainly hope you do) we would require a 50% deposit to place your order. We accept card or cash payments.
What happens at my appointment?
During your appointment, you will receive exclusive use of the boutique with Victoria. Once we have found out a little bit about you, your wedding and the 'look' you are going for, we can start the fun part and go through all of the dresses and choose which ones you would like to try on. Victoria will then help you into the gowns before the grand reveal to your friends and family.
We can then help you complete your look to perfection with our beautiful collection of shoes, hair pieces, jackets and veils.
Please note that we don’t allow photographs at The Bottom Drawer Bridal. If you have friends or family that haven' been able to make your appointment, we love nothing more than using FaceTime and Skype to have them part of your bridal experience, it is also far more personal.
What Happens Next?
Your dress will arrive into the boutique as per the estimated delivery time discussed. When your dress arrives, we will contact you to invite you to come in and try on your dress. You are also then required to pay the final balance outstanding on your dress.
At this stage we can discuss and arrange your fittings. When you come for your first fitting, you need to remember to bring with you the shoes and underwear you intend to wear on your wedding day.
We use a professional and qualified seamstress that attends appointments in the boutique on the first Saturday of the month (unless otherwise agreed.) These generally start a couple of months prior to your wedding date. Your alterations are a separate charge.
Please ensure you have a safe place you can hang the dress up high in the protective bag provided. Prior to your wedding, store the dress away from heat, light and damp.
Can I come in to view your accessories only?
Of course! Even if you have purchased you dress elsewhere we would love to assist you in completing your look. Please see our accessories page for further details of our range.
Am I able to use your seamstress for dresses not purchased from you?
Nikki is more than happy to alter dresses that have not been purchased at The Bottom Drawer Bridal. Give us a call and we will book you in so she can work her magic!
