I understand and appreciate that wedding dress shopping can be an overwhelming and, potentially, scary prospect. Rest assured that, here at The Bottom Drawer, I will ensure your appointment experience is calm, relaxed, friendly and most importantly fun! I am on hand throughout to make sure there are smiles all round and of course some happy tears.
At The Bottom Drawer Bridal, I operate by appointment only, this is to ensure that each and every bride who visits the boutique receives the ultimate, most luxurious experience that they deserve, without interruption. You are always more than welcome to pop by and if I am available to offer an appointment I will be more than happy to, but you may want to ring ahead, I would hate for you to be disappointed if I already have an appointment in progress.
I ask that all brides come to their appointment on time, unfortunately as a small boutique, I do not have a waiting area and I like each bride to receive a completely private and personal experience, so if you do arrive a little early, Saturday Market Place and The Quayside have plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants for you to wait and relax in prior to your appointment.
When should I start looking for my dress?
This depends on you! Some brides wish to visit several times, whilst others will do so on their first visit. Most of my gowns take between 10 – 16 weeks to arrive at the boutique. Some can take a little longer, I would normally advise leaving 6 months to ensure your dress arrives on time and a further minimum 8 weeks for alterations. Rush orders can be arranged, but these can come with an additional charge, depending on the designer and time of year. However, if you do not have this length of time please still contact us as we maybe able to obtain your gown within a short time period.
What size are your samples?
A sample dress will never fit you perfectly but please don’t worry, all of my dresses can be ordered in many sizes. My samples range from a size 8 – 16, with some careful clipping, a size 12 can be put on a size 16 and still see the overall look.
Do you have dresses that can be taken away the same day?
Yes. At least once a year I have to make way for new collections arriving from my designer’s as well as the odd discontinued dress. This means I will have beautiful designer wedding dresses available in the sample sale with up to 70% off which can mean some gowns start from only £400. Please get in touch for information on our current sample sale dresses available.
Can you loan Samples from the Designers?
If you have seen a dress on one of the designers websites that you would like to try that I do not have it in the boutique, it is sometimes possible to loan dresses in for you. I will contact the designer on your behalf to find out the availability of the sample dress and arrange a convenient appointment with you to try it on. For some of the designers this is free of charge and for others there may be a small delivery charge (which will be refundable if you decide to purchase the dress).
What should I wear?
Please wear nude, well fitting underwear (if possible, what you will be wearing on the day!) and again preferably the shoes you are planning to wear, if not bring shoes which are similar in height to what you will be wearing on your wedding day.
I must ask, please do not to wear ANY fake tan when you come for your appointment as it comes off onto the gowns and is extremely difficult (albeit almost impossible!) to remove! If you could also please, keep your makeup as light as possible and refrain from wearing lipstick, I would be eternally grateful!
Can I bring the girls?
There is limited space in my little boutique, therefore I ask that you keep the party to 2 or 3 people who’s opinion you trust the most. Bring guests who understand your true style, who will give supportive feedback and help you look your absolute best!
Are children welcome AT THE BOTTOM DRAWER BRIDAL?
I have 2 young children myself therefore I know how treasured these family moments can be… I do however, know how great it is to have ‘grown up’ time to myself too!
Unfortunately Ivory gowns and small children don’t mix, so I do ask that where ever possible, to please refrain from bringing children between the ages of 1 and 10 to the boutique with you.
Small babies are more than welcome! (FYI Cuddles are nearly always required!)
What is the price range of your gowns?
Typically my gowns range from £1000 to £3000 therefore ensuring a wide range for everyone to find their dream dress.
Do you charge for appointments?
The charge for a weekend and evening appointments is £20. This can be paid online via the booking system.
This will be refunded if the appointment is cancelled with more than 48 hours notice - There will be no refunds with less than 48 hours notice, or no-shows on the day.
On arrival at The Bottom Drawer, you will receive a gift voucher for £20 that you can spend or use as part payment towards any product. Any Further appointments at the Boutique after ordering your dress will remain free of charge.
Weekday appointments remain free of charge.
When do I need to order my dress?
As discussed above, most of the dresses take between 10 – 16 weeks to arrive at the boutique. Some can take a little longer, so I would normally advise leaving 6 months to ensure your dress arrives on time & allows time for alterations. Rush orders can be arranged, but these come with an additional charge, depending on the designer.
Do you price match?
The gowns are all sold at the designers' Recommended Retail Price (RRP) - but in the unlikely event (our designers aren't available anywhere else in Norfolk!) that you find any dress that I stock sold locally for less then I’ll be happy to match the price, (excluding sample sale/off the peg gowns).
How do I pay?
If you find 'The One' at The Bottom Drawer, (and I certainly hope you do) a 50% deposit is required to place your order. I accept card or cash payments. The remaining amount is then due within 14 days of your dress arriving at the boutique.
What happens at my appointment?
During your appointment, you will receive exclusive use of the boutique with me. Once I know a little bit about you, your wedding and the 'look' you are going for, the fun part can start, we go through all of the dresses and choose which ones you would like to try on. I will then help you into the gowns before the grand reveal to your entourage.
I can then help you complete your look to perfection with my beautiful collection of shoes, hair pieces, jackets and veils.
I would rather that you didn’t take photographs at The Bottom Drawer Bridal (they're never very flattering anyway!) If you have friends or family that haven't been able to make your appointment, you are more than welcome to FaceTime and Skype to have them part of your bridal experience.
What Happens Next?
Your dress will arrive into the boutique as per the estimated delivery time discussed. You are required to pay the final balance outstanding on your dress, within 14 days of your dress arriving.
At this stage we can discuss your fittings and I can put you in touch with our independent seamstress service, should you wish.
Are alterations an extra cost?
I don’t offer in house alterations at the boutique but can put you in touch with an independent seamstress who is based at her own studio in King’s Lynn. She can carry out fitting appointments at the Boutique (for an additional charge) or you can visit her studio and have your fittings there.
Alterations are a separate charge and are payable direct to the seamstress.
You are under no obligation to use our recommended seamstress service and are free to have your gown altered anywhere you choose.
Can I come in to view your accessories only?
Of course! Even if you have purchased you dress elsewhere we would love to assist you in completing your look. Please see our accessories pages for further details of our range.
